SULPHURIC ACID

Sulfuric acid is very reactive and dissolves most metals, it is a concentrated acid that oxidizes, dehydrates, or sulfonates most organic compounds, often causes charring.

In various concentrations the acid is used in the manufacture of fertilizers, pigments, dyes, drugs, explosives, detergents, and inorganic salts and acids, as well as in petroleum refining and metallurgical processes.

NITRIC ACID

Nitric acid (HNO3), also known as aqua fortis (Latin for “”strong water””) and spirit of niter, is a highly corrosive mineral acid.

The pure compound is colorless. Most commercially available nitric acid has a concentration of 68% in water.

Nitric acid can be used to convert metals to oxidized forms, such as converting copper metal to cupric nitrate. It can also be used in combination with hydrochloric acid as aqua regia to dissolve noble metals such as gold (as chloroauric acid).

ACETIC ACID

Acetic acid is an aliphatic organic acid. It is a hygroscopic, corrosive liquid with a vinegar-like odor. It can be synthesized by oxidizing acetaldehyde in the presence of manganese or cobalt salts.
